Cookie Policy

This site is deliberately light. At present we set no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies at all, and we do not load any third-party scripts. This policy explains what that means, and what would change if we ever do.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Related technologies, such as local storage, work in a similar way. Some are needed for a site to function; others watch how you use it, or follow you between sites for advertising.

2. What we currently use

No analytics. No advertising. No tracking. We do not use Google Analytics or any equivalent, we run no advertising pixels, and we embed nothing from third parties that could set a cookie on their behalf.

The only thing we may store is a record of your own cookie preference, if we ever ask you for one. That is classed as strictly necessary under UK law, because it exists purely to remember a choice you made, so it does not require consent.

Our hosting provider also records standard technical information such as your IP address in its server logs. That is not a cookie, and it is covered in our Privacy Policy.

3. Why there is no consent banner

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, consent is required before storing anything on your device that is not strictly necessary. Since we store nothing of that kind, there is nothing to ask you to agree to. We would rather not interrupt you with a request that serves no purpose.

If we later add analytics, a banner will appear before any such cookie is set, and you will be able to decline without losing access to anything on the site.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time, regardless of anything we do. The help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge each explain how. Blocking cookies will not stop this site working, because it does not rely on them.
